Dave Hills was born & raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He graduated with a pre-med degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1983. During his college years his burden to spend his life in full-time ministry continually grew, leading to the decision to forego medical school and instead attend Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana to train for pastoral ministry.
Upon graduating from Grace Seminary in 1989, Dave accepted his first ministry position as Pastor of Children’s Ministries at First Baptist Church of Elkhart. For the next 25 years Dave served on the staff at FBC as Pastor of Children’s Ministries (1989-2000) and Pastor of Adult Discipleship (2000-2015). While serving as the Adult Discipleship Pastor, Dave’s passion for biblical counseling grew, leading to the establishment of Michiana Biblical Counseling Center (MBCC) as a ministry of FBC.
In 2015 MBCC’s leadership made the strategic decision to establish MBCC, Inc. as an independent biblical counseling center serving the Michiana community. In March, 2015 MBCC, Inc. was incorporated in the State of Indiana. In June, 2015 the IRS approved 501(c)(3) public charity status for MBCC, Inc. In the early stages of MBCC, Inc., Dave worked as a pharmacy technician at Elkhart General Hospital. In January, 2017 Dave became the full-time Executive Director of Michiana Biblical Counseling Center.
Dave’s wife, Susan, is a preschool teacher at Elkhart Christian Academy. They have three children. Nicole (Married to Oliver, and mother of Micah), Nathan (Married to Katia, and father of Luca and Nora) and Austin.
Deanna Doctor has served as the Director of Counseling at MBCC since January, 2016. Before coming to MBCC, Deanna served as the Women’s Counseling Director at First Baptist Church – Elkhart from 2008-2016.
Deanna’s initial involvement in biblical counseling began years ago when, as a youth pastor’s wife, she had numerous opportunities to meet with women in her living room and help them to address life’s problems by applying the powerful truths of God’s Word. As the opportunities to help women continued to present themselves, Deanna sought to further develop her abilities as a biblical counselor by receiving training through Biblical Counseling Center, Arlington Heights, IL and Faith Biblical Counseling Center in Lafayette, IN. In 2010 she completed the work required to receive certification from the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.
Deanna and her husband, Steve, attend Grace Community Church in Goshen, IN. They are the parents of Linnaya (Married to Brad) and Alece.
